Former school house

Former school house Oberdorf 18
(Flst. No. 0-87)
(map)
1886 Built in 1886, former schoolhouse, is under monument protection, expanded into a village community center by an extension in 1988/89. Is on the corner of Oberdorf-Impfinger path. Former schoolhouse built in 1886 in sandstone ashlar with 2 storeys above a high basement to the street and a hipped roof due to the sloping terrain. The building is structured by cornice, eaves and square corner pilasters, whereby the facade is essentially determined by a differentiated treatment of the stone surfaces: the base made of embossed cuboids with regular horizontal joints, corner bracing in large cuboid work and smooth work pieces of garment; the upper floors with smooth rectangular walls, embossed Keilstein relief lintels and a rough wall surface; the corner pilasters made of alternating smooth and embossed blocks. 2 segment-arched doors in the base are symmetrically arranged between 3 segment-arched windows in relation to the axis, one opens up the base floor (currently walled up), the other via a staircase the upper floors. The appearance of the building, with the exception of the muntin-free glazing on the upper floor, has preserved the legibility of its function (large rectangular windows of the former school rooms on the first floor, smaller rectangular windows of the former teacher's apartments on the upper floor) and provides a clear example of a rural school building the 1880s. There is therefore public interest in maintaining the house for scientific reasons.

James Church

James Church Unterdorf 9
(district no. 0-6)
(map)
1782 Catholic branch church St. Jakobus d. Ä. (to the parish of St. Martin in Tauberbischofsheim), built 1782, baptismal font (1671), side altar painting by Eulogius Böhler (1902) Simple hall building from 1782 with retracted, just closed choir (the latter supposedly with components from the 14th century), flat ceiling and bell rider with Onion hood over the entrance front. The exterior has very simple shapes with arched windows at the sides and two oval oculi in addition to a drilled entrance door; the grown furnishings show a structure that has evolved over time and, with the baroque high altar and various sculptures of saints from the late 18th century, is an essential part of the original inventory. The font bears the year 1671 and therefore probably comes from the previous building. It is a good example of a modest country church from the end of the 18th century, which has largely preserved the appearance from the time it was built inside and out. There is therefore a public interest in the preservation of the church for scientific, local history and, with regard to the furnishings, also for artistic reasons.
Protected according to § 2 DSchG
