The list of murder and atonement crosses in the Main-Tauber district includes murder and atonement crosses for communities in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .
The Main-Tauber-Kreis , according to Bernhard Losch, the county with the most atonement crosses in Baden-Wuerttemberg. The reason lies in the agricultural structure of the district since the Middle Ages. In modern times there was no densification of settlement and industry as in the metropolitan areas, so that these cultural monuments were largely preserved in the open air . For this reason there are also numerous free-range crossroads in the Main-Tauber district . This was favored by a below-average proportion of forests, whereas the proportion of agricultural land is very high. With around 100 inhabitants per square kilometer, the population density is the lowest in Baden-Württemberg. The original cultural landscape was thus preserved without major disruption from large-scale residential or industrial areas.
Well known is the stone cross nest near Reicholzheim , the largest collection of stone crosses in southern Germany , which was already the subject of art.

Stone cross nests in the Main-Tauber district
If there are several crosses next to each other at a location, one speaks of a so-called stone cross nest . This can have various reasons. On the one hand, it can actually be the original location or an officially assigned location. On the other hand, due to the different ages of individual crosses, it can be assumed that they were implemented in the past, so that they were only later put together in a suitable place to form such nests. Since some of these facts have been forgotten, new legends have emerged in which several people now play a role, depending on the number of objects. The following stone cross nests are known in the Main-Tauber district:
