geography
Hof Steinbach is about four kilometers south of the town of Tauberbischofsheim, one kilometer east of the Dittwar district , two kilometers southwest of the Dittigheim district and two kilometers west of the Distelhausen district .
history
middle Ages
The small settlement Hof Steinbach was built in the 11th and 12th. Century as a clearing settlement, which is indicated by records from the Grünsfeld interest book from 1415. In 1322 Hof Steinbach was first mentioned in a document as villa Steinbach (village Steinbach). Even in the early days, the small settlement probably consisted of three courtyards. In 1415 three farms were mentioned in a document, which were subsequently divided several times.
Modern times
In the middle of the 16th century, the previously independent Hof Steinbach settlement was assigned to the village court in Dittigheim. In 1578 the affiliation to Dittigheim was mentioned in a document. Between 1645 and 1650 the fields remained undeveloped when the hamlet was briefly abandoned.
Hof Steinbach, which had been separated in the meantime, was reintegrated into the community of Dittigheim on April 1, 1935 as part of a new community reform. Together with Dittigheim, the hamlet was reclassified to the town of Tauberbischofsheim on January 1, 1975 on the occasion of the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg .

Weather cross
About one kilometer south-east of Hof Steinbach, a “ weather cross ” was erected in 1714 as an “eternal memory” of major storm damage and is shown on many hiking maps. Its pedestal forms the boundary stone to the districts of five old communities ( Oberlauda , Lauda , Distelhausen, Dittigheim and Dittwar), whose coats of arms are depicted on it. The weather cross was created by a sculptor from Grünsfeld .
