organization structure
The ecclesial communities of the church district Wertheim own the rights to a public body , that is, they are contrary to parishes as parishes designated. A parish council is elected every six years in the respective parishes. This administers the parish together with the supervising pastor. Usually several parishes are looked after by one parish office . The parishes receive allocations from the Evangelical Church in Baden in accordance with the statutory provisions on financial equalization.
Demographic and socio-spatial structure
The Wertheim church district borders the Württemberg regional church in the south and the Bavarian regional church in the north . Wertheim is the northernmost of the 24 church districts in the Baden regional church . Around 20,000 Protestant Christians live in the 21 parishes with branch and diaspora locations in the district. These are looked after by 13 parish priests. The church district is located in the northern Main-Tauber district and extends along the Main from Freudenberg in the north about 45 km up the Tauber to Königshofen in the south.
Ecumenical cooperation
In the area of ecumenical cooperation, the Roman Catholic deanery Tauberbischofsheim covers the areas of the church district Wertheim. There is also a Syrian Orthodox community in Tauberbischofsheim.
The mosque communities of Wertheim and Lauda play a special role in interreligious encounters on site.
Cycle path churches
Along the Taubertal Cycle Path , which leads through the church district, there are over 30 cycle path churches that, reliably open, invite you to spiritual reflection and prayer. Some of them belong to the church district of Wertheim.
