The Protestant Church District North Baden (also Prelature North Baden and Sprengel North Baden ) is one of the two prelatures of the Evangelical Regional Church in Baden , along with the Church District South Baden . As an ecclesiastical organizational unit, it comprises the northern part of the regional church with the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region to the south of Karlsruhe . Schwetzingen is the seat of the church district of North Baden . The regional bishop is supported by the North Baden prelate in the spiritual direction of the Protestant regional church . In contrast to the church district , which is a corporation under public law , the prelature has no legal personality. It is just an ecclesiastical administrative district. The leadership of the prelature is incumbent on the prelate (the prelate), who is also known as the regional bishop ( regional bishop ).

history
Church district
From 1969 to 2003 there was a third church district in Mittelbaden , based in Ettlingen . This was dissolved in the name of austerity measures and divided between the two other church districts North Baden and South Baden based in Freiburg im Breisgau .
