Traugott Schächtele

Traugott Schächtele (* 1957 in Wolfenweiler ) is a Protestant theologian and prelate for the North Baden parish of the Evangelical Regional Church in Baden .

Life and work

Schächtele was born the youngest of seven children, both parents were tailors. After high school and community service , Traugott Schächtele studied theology in Freiburg , Tübingen , Basel and Heidelberg . In 1989, he was at the University of Heidelberg to the Dr. theol. PhD. After his apprenticeship vicariate in Karlsruhe - Wolfartsweier , a parish vicariate followed in Rheinau - Freistett and Ettlingen . From 1992 to 1998 Schächtele was parish priest of the Luther parish in Ettlingen.

In 1998 he was appointed Dean of the Freiburg Church District. In 2007 he took over a professorship for Protestant theology at the Protestant University in Freiburg . In addition, he was the representative of the regional church for the ministerial service and was Margit Fleckenstein's deputy in the synod of the EKD . Since August 2010 he has been prelate for the church district of North Baden, and in 2012 he was appointed honorary professor at the Evangelical University of Freiburg.

Traugott Schächtele is married and has five grown children. After the birth of his first child, he took four years of parental leave .
