history
middle Ages
Nicozeshusen, as the village was called earlier, was first mentioned in a document in 1170. The village belonged to the old county of Wertheim, the later county of Löwenstein-Wertheim. Hans Böhm , the Timpanist from Niklashausen , appeared in 1476 as a preacher before the pilgrims in Niklashausen. He manages to gather 40,000 farmers around him. Nevertheless, he was arrested and burned as a heretic in Würzburg.
Modern times
In 1806 the village came under the sovereignty of the Grand Duchy of Baden . Until 1938 Niklashausen belonged to the Wertheim office, then to the Tauberbischofsheim office. In 1939 the place was combined with Höhefeld to form one municipality, but separated again in 1960. On January 1, 1975 Niklashausen was incorporated into Werbach.

The local Catholics form a branch of the parish church of St. Martin in Gamburg in the deanery of Tauberbischofsheim . The Protestant Christians of the place are part of the parish of Külsheim-Niklashausen-Höhefeld in the church district of Wertheim .
