Furnishing
Former altar figures
In 1927 there was a crescent Madonna holding the baby Jesus in a niche about 80 centimeters high on the altar . However, after some time these figures were stolen by church robbers.
Altarpieces and murals
In 1993 the altar area was redesigned by the Würzburg painter Gastl. The altar painting, painted on a canvas, showed Madonna in a protective cloak with a child, old and young people, as well as soldiers, sought refuge under her wide-open cloak. The coat should symbolize security, protection and protection from war and other dangers. On both sides there were red winged beings, which were supposed to represent seraphim or cherubim. In the lower part was in red, the village of Gerchsheim , in particular the rectory with church and the town hall were clearly visible.
In 1946 the painter Anton Dasser painted a new altarpiece about 3.5 meters high behind the altar, which represented Christ as Prince of Peace and victor over the Antichrists. In the course of this, Dasser also painted the side walls of the chapel with four figures of saints: St. George , Blessed Bernhard II of Baden , St. Martinus and Barbara of Nicomedia .
While the side depictions of saints can still be seen today, the altarpiece was redesigned in the course of renovation work in the interior and exterior of the chapel in the early 1990s.
Warrior memorial tablets
To the left and right of the chapel entrance hang three stone tablets on which the names of the fallen and missing of the community from the First and Second World Wars are carved. These popularly gave the chapel the alternative name of war memorial chapel .
