The Roman Catholic Parish Church of St. Lawrence in Ilmspan , a district of Großrinderfeld in Main-Tauber-Kreis was built in the years 1766-1768 and the St. Lawrence consecrated .

history

The master builder Johann Michael Fischer took over the planning and construction management of the church from 1766 to 1768. Under the entrance of the church there is a coat of arms, which is to remind of the prince-bishops from Würzburg who ruled at that time, as well as of the year of construction 1766 .

The Laurentiuskirche belongs to the pastoral care unit Großrinderfeld-Werbach, which is assigned to the deanery Tauberbischofsheim of the Archdiocese of Freiburg .

The Archangel Michael can be found figuratively on the foremost west side of the tower in an arched niche. In the lower left front is the figure of St. Anna Selbdritt . The figure of St. Joseph can be seen in the lower right-hand corner. The church figures all date from the 18th century . The high altar of the church represents the martyrdom of St. Laurentius . Next to them are the princes of the apostles Peter and Paul . The two side altars were made by the sculptor Johann Steuerwald in 1768. In the middle of the left side altar is the figure of the Virgin Mary . On the right side of the left side altar is the figure of St. Johannes Nepomuk and on the left side St. Barbara to visit. In the middle of the right side altar is St. Joseph . On his left side is Saint Sebastian and on his right side St. Find Andreas .

Worth seeing

Worth seeing at the Church of St. Laurentius are the confessional, the choir stalls, a baroque Pietà, as well as the figures of Blessed Bernhard von Baden , St. Laurentius and St. Wendelin .

pulpit

The pulpit of the church dates from the 17th century and is therefore older than the church itself. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is on top of the pulpit. Ignatius of Loyola , who founded the Jesuit order , can also be seen in the pulpit. Below the pulpit you can see Luke, Mark, Matthew and John, the four evangelists .

Patronage and day of pledge

The patronage is celebrated in the parish on August 10th and the day of pledge on January 20th.
