The deanery Wiesental has the deanery reform from 1 January 2008, is one of 26 deaneries in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Freiburg .

description

Geographically, the deanery area, with the exception of the parishes of Schliengen , Bad Bellingen and Schwörstadt, is congruent with the district of Lörrach . The seat of the archbishop's deanery Wiesental is Lörrach . The deanery represents the middle level between the archdiocese of Freiburg, the Upper Rhine region and the individual pastoral care units and parishes. The pastoral care units Kandern-Istein, Weil am Rhein, Lörrach and Mittleres Wiesental are predominantly evangelical for historical reasons. Exceptions are Istein, Huttingen and Stetten.

Together with the Waldshut dean's office, the dean's office forms the Upper Rhine region of the Archdiocese of Freiburg.
