St. Gallus (Rheinfelden / Baden)
St. Gallus is a Roman Catholic church in the Rheinfeld district of Warmbach under the patronage of St. Gallus . It is the parish church of the Catholic community. Since 2006 St. Gallus has formed a pastoral care unit together with the parishes of St. Josef and St. Felix and Regula in the district of Nollingen .
history
The founding document of the St. Gallen Monastery from 754 already proves a parish in the village of Warmbach. The first documented mention of a church goes back to the year 1270. The exact year of construction of the church, however, is unknown and nothing is known about its exterior. It is known that in 1835 the plasterer Jodok Friedrich Wilhelm redesigned three altars. It received its present form through extensive renovation and enlargement work between 1930 and 1931. In 1982 the entire church was completely renovated and one year later the Sankt-Gallus-Haus was built as the parish center.
description
Church and environment
The Gallus Church is located on the local thoroughfare directly on the banks of the Rhine . The simple saddle roof structure is east- facing and has a polygonal choir flanked to the north by the sacristy and south-east by the bell tower . The bell tower has double pointed arcades. Its gable roof is hipped across the main building and is closed off by a dome-shaped roof turret.
Opposite the main entrance, the Holy Cross Chapel was built in 1850. The building with a square floor plan is of a gabled roof completed, which is pulled up to the church. In the chapel there are two baroque figures on the altar. The ceiling painting shows Christ , Mary and God the Father . There are two epitaphs in front of the entrance .
Furnishing
The interior of the Gallus Church is divided into the main nave and two lower aisles. Colonnades support the entablature between the naves . The individual architectural parts are structured by light-colored plaster and red sandstone . The ceiling painting of the patron saint was made in 1941 by the Waldshut painter Carl Bertsche (1885–1942). The flat arched choir ceiling is decorated with cassettes .
The bronze bells were cast by the Heidelberg foundry Friedrich Wilhelm Schilling in 1954. The ringing includes the bells with the nominal gis ', h', cis '' and e ''.
organ
Today's organ was installed by the Freiburg organ builder Hartwig Späth in 1983 and replaced the instrument from 1949. It has two manuals , a pedal and twelve registers . The disposition is as follows:
