history

The Johanneskirche in Minseln was built between 1952 and 1953 according to plans by the architect Wacker from Rheinfelden and consecrated on April 3, 1953 by the then regional bishop Julius Bender . Berlin artist Gerhard Olbrich created six large windows in the nave in 1954/55 . In 1961 GF Steinmeyer & Co. built an organ into the church.

description

Church building

The rectangular church building is entered through an entrance door that is protected by a small pent roof . There are three similar semicircular windows above the pent roof. The nave and the rectangular choir, which is drawn in to the west, are of shallow depth and are covered by a gable roof. A small, massive bell tower , which only slightly towers over the rest of the building, stands to the left of the entrance on the southeast corner. Two sound arcades each with an arched end open on all sides. The tower is also covered with a gable roof aligned with the nave.

Furnishing

Inside the nave is covered with a flat wooden ceiling. The church interior is illuminated by six large windows. Gerhard Olbrich created the motifs with New Testament representations. A simple wooden altar stands in front of the choir. The wall behind it shows a colored depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ , painted in 1954 and also by Olbrich. A pulpit is set up to the left of the choir and the font is to the right .

The bell consists of two bronze bells. The larger g ′ ′ bell was made in 1952 by the Rincker bell and art foundry in the Hessian sense . The small b ′ ′ bell goes back to a foundation of Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden in 1899. It was first used in the Adelberg Church and transferred to Minseln in 1954.

The Steinmeyer organ on the gallery above the entrance has a mechanical action , a manual , a pedal and six stops .
