Minseln is a northern district of Rheinfelden in the district of Loerrach , Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ).

geography

The village is located north of Rheinfelden on the Dinkelberg , surrounded by fields and pastures in the Dürrenbach valley. The elongated settlement is divided into the locations of Lower, Central and Upper Mines, which have grown together through further expansion. Newer one and two-family houses were built on the right slope of the valley.

history

The place was first mentioned as minilido in 754 in a document from the St. Gallen monastery .

The knights of Eptingen were owners of the Fronhof and thus the most important landlords of the village. Nevertheless, there was also its own village nobility. The knight family is mentioned between 1283 and 1358 and originally their members were probably ministerials of the St. Gallen monastery.

Minseln was part of the Rheinfelden county early on. In almost all wars on the Upper Rhine , the place was a victim of looting and pillage. But especially in the Thirty Years' War during the siege of Rheinfeld by the Swedes (1634) Minseln suffered badly.

On January 1, 1972, Minseln joined the city of Rheinfelden (Baden) as part of the municipal reform in Baden-Württemberg. The then incumbent mayor of Minseln, Paul Rombach, became the deputy of the then mayor of Rheinfeld, Herbert King.
