St. Felix and Regula

The church of St. Felix and Regula in the Rheinfeld district of Nollingen is a Roman Catholic parish church that belongs to the patronage of Felix and Regula . The church of medieval origin was rebuilt in 1938 while retaining old parts of the building. The church is not far from a spur of the Dinkelberg north of the town center, off the through road. The church forms a pastoral care unit together with St. Josef in Rheinfelden and St. Gallus in Warmbach .

history

The foundation of the parish in Nollingen probably goes back to the 8th or 9th century. The first documentary mention goes back to the year 1246. During the Basel War in 1409, Nollingen and the church at that time were burned down. The church, rebuilt in 1415, is the oldest surviving part of today's church. A window in the choir shows the year 1440, the triumphal arch bears the year 1494.

The year 1574 in the sacristy indicates that the church was enlarged. In 1724 new side altars were erected and the sacristy torn down. The high altar of Mors from Schwörstadt was created in 1731, painted in gold and other colors by painter Adam Wieland a year later. In 1740 the bell tower was raised by one floor and received light and sound openings as well as a curved tower spire . The nave was renovated in 1764.

The church received a new pulpit in 1835 from the plasterer Jodok Friedrich Wilhelm , who also renovated the high altar.

In 1938 a new nave was built in a north-south direction, replacing the old one across it. The old choir, the sacristy and the tower have been preserved. In the course of a renovation in 1979, Leonhard Eder from Rheinfeld created a new altar, tabernacle , ambo and sedile from Jurassic limestone.

The nave is provided with a saddle roof covered; the two choirs are closed by tent roofs . The bell tower attached to the northeast has a sound arcade on each of the four sides on the top floor and has a Welsche dome , which is crowned with a tower ball and a cross. The south-facing main entrance can be reached via an outside staircase and three arched arcades . On the south facade hangs a large figure of St. Christopher with the baby Jesus made of red sandstone.

Furnishing

The nave has two narrow aisles , each separated from the central nave by four round arches resting on pillars. The nave has three windows on the west side and two similar windows on the east side. The naves are covered with a flat wooden ceiling while the new choir has a ridge vault behind the triumphal arch . An arched window in the choir faces west. On the back wall of the choir there are two pictures, of which the right depicts the expulsion from the Garden of Eden , the other Jesus Christ with eleven disciples. A red sandstone statue of Christ adorns the wall in the middle .

There is a side altar on either side of the triumphal arch; on the foremost pillar is the pulpit . The equipment is complemented by thirteen pictures of the Way of the Cross .

In the old side choir there is a baroque altar and a font ; the room is separated from the nave by a wrought iron grille. Behind it is a small vestibule with three doors. The organ gallery is located above it. The organ was rebuilt in 1995 by Thomas Jann from Laberweinting . The instrument has two manuals , a pedal and 24 registers .
