St. Burkhard in Uiffingen

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Burkhard in Uiffingen , a district of Boxberg in the Main-Tauber district , was built from 1803 to 1813 and is consecrated to St. Burkhard .

history

Construction of the church began in 1803. Disagreements between the two denominations in the village as well as the change of rule from the Principality of Leiningen to the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806 due to the territorial reform delayed the construction of the church enormously. There were also major financing problems and a general emergency as a result of the Napoleonic wars. As a result, the church building remained without a roof for a long time and the weather damage was already taking on greater proportions. It was not until 1811 that construction could be continued with the support of the Protestant part of the community and a new regulation of parish income and property and was finally completed in 1813.

The Uiffingen Burkhardskirche is a subsidiary of the Catholic parish of Kupprichhausen and belongs to the Pastoral Care Unit Boxberg-Ahorn, which is assigned to the deanery Tauberbischofsheim of the Archdiocese of Freiburg .

Church building and equipment

It is a simple classical hall building with a roof turret, decorative portal and walled-in stone. The church has a two-part historical bronze bell from the 18th century.
