René Guissart

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

René Gaston Albert Guissart (born October 24, 1888 in Paris , † May 19, 1960 in Monaco ) was a French cameraman and film director in the United States and France.

Live and act

Guissart had emigrated to the USA in 1912 and learned the film business from scratch in Hollywood. In the middle of the First World War he was promoted to chief cameraman and has since photographed a wealth of film productions in a wide variety of genres, initially in America, since the beginning of the 1920s in Great Britain and, since the dawn of the sound film age, primarily in his native France.

Some of these works were created in German co-production. Resident in his native Paris since 1930, René Guissart began directing films. Most of them are inconsequential comedies. With the end of the peace period in 1939, René Guissart withdrew completely from the film business and finally settled in Monaco, where he also died.
