René Hantke

René Hantke (* 1925 ) is a Swiss paleontologist , lecturer and author .

René Hantke completed his habilitation from 1949 to 1954 with Alphonse Jeannet at the ETH Zurich on the paleobotany of the Miocene discovery site Schrotzburg near Öhningen . As a titular professor at the ETH, he dealt with the Ice Ages for decades and became one of the most influential Quaternary specialists . His three-volume monograph on the Ice Age in the Alpine region was best known .
