René Imbot

René Gabriel Imbot (born March 17, 1925 in Roussillon , Département Vaucluse , † February 19, 2007 in Apt , Département Vaucluse) was the head of the French foreign intelligence service DGSE from September 25, 1985 to December 1, 1986 . He succeeded Pierre Lacoste , who had to resign because of the Rainbow Warrior affair .
From 1969 to 1971 he was in command of the "35e régiment d'infanterie mécanisée" (35th Mechanized Infantry Regiment).
Among other things, he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor.
After leaving the DGSE, he was involved in illegal arms deals with Taiwan .
