René Lafuite

René Aristide Achille Joseph Lafuite (born May 12, 1901 in Sedan , † March 18, 1964 in Suresnes ) was a French film producer . He also worked in film distribution .

Live and act

Lafuite began working in the French film industry in 1923, and made his Hollywood debut in 1926. At this time he was involved in the first film productions. In 1935 he went into film distribution. Among other things, he held executive positions at the French distributors Lille Cinédis, Sedif and Ciné Sélection (1945 to 1949). From 1949 to 1952 he was general director of the Selznick Releasing Organization, a company owned by David O. Selznick . He then took on the same position at Discifilm until 1954.

After that, Lafuite turned back to film production. He produced several films between 1954 and 1961 and together with Arthur Cohn won the Oscar for the best documentary film for Just Heaven and Dirt ( Le Ciel et la boue , 1961) at the 1962 Academy Awards .

René Lafuite died in Suresnes in 1964 .
