René Steinberg (born April 10, 1973 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German cabaret artist and author .

Life

After graduating from high school in Heißen , Steinberg began a year of professional training in the commercial sector. A week and a half later, he enrolled in a degree in German studies with a master's degree at the University of Essen . During his studies he worked as a freelancer for the WAZ local editorial office in Essen and as a reporter, presenter and news anchor for the radio station Antenne Ruhr .

In 1998 he received his first own comedy series with the Heimatarchiv at Antenne Ruhr, which was on the air with more than 300 episodes for a total of six years. In addition, Steinberg worked as a freelance writer and copywriter, including for the Harald Schmidt Show . By participating in a competition organized by Frühstyxradio , the SWR became aware of him and in 1999 hired Steinberg as a freelancer for his comedy division. Two years later he switched to WDR , where he soon became known to a wide audience with radio formats such as Die von der Leyens , Sarko de Funès and Schloss Koalitionsstein . Stage programs have been an essential part of his work since 2006. In 2008 Steinberg founded the Nachgewürz Ensemble with Matthias Reuter , Benjamin Eisenberg and Marko Jonas Jahn (with regular appearances in the Oberhausen Center Altenberg). In addition, he and his radio colleague Maria Grund-Scholer worked on stage versions of the WDR radio formats, with which both have been touring regularly since 2009 under the title Lachen Live . In 2012 he premiered his first solo program Wer laughs shows teeth , for which he received several cabaret awards in the first year. In 2014 he started his solo program Give the nonsense the command . In 2015 he was on the road again with a new WDR2-Lachen-Live program all over North Rhine-Westphalia (for the first time without Grund-Scholer). The end of 2016 saw the premiere of the current solo program Irres ist Menschlich .
