Renard Iceland is about 1.8 km long and 1.4 km wide island in the Hidden Bay between Graham and Danco Coast of Graham lands north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is separated from False Cape Renard on the mainland by a small strait that was only visible after the ice had melted before 2001. Cape Renard is at its northern end .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2008 based on the name of the cape of the same name. Its namesake is the Belgian mineralogist Alphonse-François Renard (1842–1903), member of the commission for the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) of the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery .
