Renate Apitz

Renate Apitz (born May 4, 1939 in Breslau ; † December 19, 2008 in Bad Saarow ) was a German writer .

Life

Renate Apitz grew up in Berlin from 1944 . From 1960 to 1964 she studied theater studies and art history at the Humboldt University in Berlin . From 1964 to 1991 she was a dramaturge at the radio of the GDR .

Renate Apitz is the author of two collections with stories about the fate of women. Her main work is the novel "Hexenzeit", in which the ultimately failed life of a woman born in the Third Reich is portrayed; in its nested narrative style, the work is heavily influenced by modern Latin American literature.
