Renate Lepsius

Renate Lepsius b. Meyer (born June 21, 1927 in Berlin ; † June 28, 2004 in Weinheim ) was a German historian, publicist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from high school, Renate Lepsius studied history, literature and political science in Berlin, Freiburg and London . In 1953 she wrote her doctorate (Dr. phil.) On a foreign policy topic. In 1958 she married the sociologist Mario Rainer Lepsius ; their son is the constitutional law teacher Oliver Lepsius . Since 1969 she has been a member of the advisory board of the Federal Agency for Civic Education .

politics

In 1956 she joined the SPD. From 1965 to 1973 she was a member of the SPD state executive committee of Baden-Württemberg , 1968–1973 in the party council and from 1972 to 1987 a member of the German Bundestag . She was involved in the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs as well as in the Legal Committee and was Deputy Chairwoman of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women in Baden-Württemberg.
