Renate Menken

Renate Menken (* 1943 in Lübeck ) is a German pharmacist who has made herself known in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck through her voluntary work.

Life

In addition to her main job as a self-employed pharmacist, Renate Menken is a voluntary manager who has had a major influence on the shaping of cultural and social civic engagement in Lübeck for over 30 years. As a member of the Society for the Promotion of Charitable Activities , she was initially involved for over 20 years in the family education center and the Lübeck mothers' school , both of which are run by the company. From 1997 to 2002 she was the company's first female director for two consecutive terms. Afterwards she took over the management of the Lübeck Music and Art School for the non-profit from 2002 to 2008 . Since 1996 she has also been a member of the board of the Possehl Foundation , which is important in Lübeck , since 2007 as deputy and 2009–2016 as chairwoman of the board of this foundation. Since 2003 she has been committed to nature conservation in Lübeck on the board of trustees of the Lübeck merchants' association . Renate Menken was awarded the Order of Merit on Ribbon by the Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein, Peter Harry Carstensen , for her voluntary work on October 5, 2010 in Kiel .
