Rene Tammist

Rene Tammist (born July 5, 1978 in Tartu , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian politician . He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Estonia (SDE) and was Minister for Entrepreneurship and Information Technology from August 2018 to April 2019.

Life

After completing his school education, Rene Tammist first studied administration science at the University of Tartu . Completion of this degree in 2001 was followed by a Masters in Politics and Public Administration at Manchester University in 2004 .

Between 2005 and 2011, Tammist worked as an advisor to the Committee on Industry, Science and Energy of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament . From 2007 to 2009 he was also a member of the supervisory board of Eesti Energia . He remained connected to the energy sector over the next few years, but returned completely to Estonia. From 2011 to 2018 he was a manager in the field of renewable energies and worked for the agency for energy regulation from 2012 to 2018.

On August 22, 2018, Rene Tammist was appointed as the new Minister for Entrepreneurship and Information Technology in the cabinet of Prime Minister Jüri Ratas following the resignation of Urve Palo .
