Repnin (noble family)
The Repnin are a Russian princely family of Rurikid descent. They are of the same tribe and coat of arms as Prince Obolensky and Prince Dolgorukov .
history
The Obolenski trace their descent to Juri, the fifth son of Michael von Tschernigow , ruler in the Principality of Chernigow . His descendants ruled the Principality of Obolensk, founded by Juri in 1270 (today Obolenskoe east of Obninsk ) and remained there as governors from 1494 after it was placed under the Grand Duchy of Moscow . The Repnin branch was created by Ivan Michhailovich Obolensky († 1523), who was nicknamed Repnya, bad porridge .
