Reprobates: Isle of the Damned is a point-and-click adventure game from Future Games . It is set on an unknown island where the player suddenly wakes up and has to discover the secret of this island. Reprobates was released for Windows on September 14, 2007 . In the English version the game is called Next Life .

action

The 23-year-old Czech Adam Raichl rammed his car into a tank truck, which then exploded. To his astonishment, he then wakes up in a cramped living container on an unknown island, together with just under a dozen other people, all of whom apparently inexplicably narrowly escaped death, on different dates within the last 50 (from Adam's perspective) Years. On the (very small) island there is a mysterious bell tower. When this rings three times, all islanders suddenly fall into deep sleep and experience bad nightmares, some of which affect waking life. Sometimes individual islanders have disappeared after these sleep phases. The aim of the game is to solve the mystery of the bell tower.

Gameplay

Reprobates is a so-called 2.5D point-and-click adventure . Characters that were created as three-dimensional figure models move in front of hand-drawn 2D backdrops. The player gives his character Adam Raichl action commands with the mouse, moves them from place to place, examines the scenery, combines found objects and talks to other characters. An unusual feature for point-and-click adventures is a stamina meter that empties by running, lifting and climbing and can be refilled with water and food.

reception

The unconsumed setting, the nightmare sequences and the graphics in general were praised in reviews. The island sequences with little variety, the awkward narrative style, the pale design of the characters and numerous technical errors were criticized. The setting was often compared to the television series Lost . The Metacritic score is 56.
