José Requena Nozal (born October 25, 1947 in Saragossa , Spain ) is an artist and painter with an autodidactic career who uses different painting techniques ( encaustic , oil painting , acrylic and pastel ).

Nozal was born in 1947 in the El Arrabal district of Zaragoza. His first solo exhibition took place in 1975 in the "Museo Provincial de la Rioja", where he received attention as a figurative oil painter with topics related to the social offside.

In 1982 he took part in the competition “Concurso Nacional de Pintura para Artistas Jóvenes” organized by the ABC newspaper . In 1996 he received the first prize of the “II Salón de Verano Ciudad de Nueva York” as an award from the Goya Art Gallery of New York.

He has been a registered member of the Asociación Española de Pintores y Escultores since 1997. He has not organized any exhibitions since 2004.

Part of his work was created using the painting technique of encaustic, where he tried to express “consciously elaborate compositions and orderly crowds”. His work includes "different atmospheres (...)" and is characterized by his attitude towards humanity, permeated with a certain poetry, in which reality and the search for ways of expressing concrete feelings find their place.

In 2004 his style underwent a radical change in favor of abstract expressionism or tachism , for the execution of which he used the painting technique of encaustic paints , acrylic paints and gold leaf .
