background

On February 9, 2017, the French television channel France 2 announced that Alma would represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev with the song Requiem . Shortly after the announcement, however, it was said that the song had already been published in 2015, which the rule of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) does not provide, as a contribution for the ESC may not be published before September 1st of the previous year. However, it was an unofficial version, which is why it does not violate the rules, as confirmed by the EBU. Alma announced on February 21, 2017 that she would like to work on a bilingual version of the song - English and French - and will be singing a part in English at the ESC.

The song was produced and written by Nazim Khaled. Among other things, Khaled is the songwriter of Amir Haddad's J'ai cherché , the French ESC contribution in 2016, which came in 6th.
