The Rescue Point ( English for rescue tip is) an icy promontory on the north coast of the West Antarctic Thurston Island . It forms the western branch of the Noville Peninsula and marks the eastern boundary of the entrance from the Bellingshausen Sea into the Peale Inlet .
It is named in memory of the rescue of six survivors of the crash of a Martin PBM Mariner on December 30, 1946 on the Noville Peninsula as part of Operation Highjump (1946–1947) carried out by the United States Navy on January 12, 1947. .
