Reserve (police)

In the police system of numerous countries, including Namibia and South Africa , reserves are units that are available on a regular basis in addition to the forces planned for deployment. Its members are reservists .

Namibia

In Namibia the reservists are an integral part of the Namibian Police Force . They have to work a certain amount of time per month without compensation and have the same rights and duties as regular police officers.

The entry requirements are comparatively low. In addition to Namibian citizenship , an age of 21 to 50 years is required. In addition, there must be no previous convictions and the English language must be mastered.

Especially in rural areas on farms , numerous people have made themselves available as reservists.

There is also in Namibia, the Special Reserve Force (too German about special reserve unit ), a unit for special operations such demonstrations . It is comparable to the riot police .
