UN Security Council resolution 1801

The Resolution 1801 of the UN Security Council of 20 February 2008 is concerned with the situation in Somalia .

The resolution extends the mandate of the AU peace mission AMISOM by a further six months and emphasizes its contributions to peace in Somalia. It condemns the ongoing domestic violence and hostilities against AMISOM forces and expresses the Security Council's concern about the increasing piracy off the Somali coast . She also welcomed the appointment of the new Prime Minister of Somalia's interim government, Nur Hassan Hussein, and his cabinet reshuffle.

The resolution was passed by the United Nations Security Council at its 5842nd session.
