Just Hassan Hussein
Nur Hassan Hussein , also known as Nur Adde (born February 2, 1938 in Mogadishu , † April 1, 2020 in London ), was Prime Minister of Somalia's interim government from November 22, 2007 to January 2009 . He was previously chairman of the Somali Red Crescent since 1991 . He was a police officer and belonged to the Mudulood-Abgal- Hawiye clan .
Life
He began his career in the 1950s with the colonial police in what was then the trust territory of Italian Somaliland . There he worked in the Guardia di Finanza unit, which dealt with tax issues. Nur Adde studied law in Mogadishu and attended police academies in Italy and the USA . Under Siad Barre , he became vice chairman of a military tribunal prosecuting tax evasion and other financial crimes.
After the fall of the government and the beginning of the Somali civil war , Nur Adde became chairman of the Somali Red Crescent Society, which was professionalized under him. Politically, he was considered neutral.
On November 22, 2007, he was appointed Prime Minister. In this role, Nur Hassan Hussein reorganized the cabinet.
Differences with President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed arose when Nur Hassan Hussein dismissed Mohammed Dhere as mayor of the capital Mogadishu at the end of July 2008 . President Yusuf, who is allied with Dhere, reversed this. As a result, 10 out of 15 ministers resigned in protest against Nur Addes' decision.
On December 14, 2008, the President only dismissed Hassan Hussein, who however pointed out that this was only possible with the approval of Parliament. The parliament then declared the dismissal illegal and expressed confidence in Nur Hassan Hussein. Nevertheless, the President appointed Mohammed Mahamud Guled as his successor. The regional organization IGAD then announced that it would not recognize the newly appointed Prime Minister. Mohammed Mahamud Guled himself declared a few days later that he was resigning in the interests of peace. As a result of these events, among other things, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed was urged to resign. He was succeeded by Sharif Sheikh Ahmed , who belongs to the same clan as Nur Hassan Hussein. This in turn made it necessary to fill the office of prime minister again, since according to the transitional constitution the president and prime minister must come from different clans. Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke was then elected to succeed Nur Hassan Hussein.
