Umar Arteh Ghalib

Umar Arteh Ghalib (* 1930 ) was Somalia's foreign minister from 1969–1977 and was appointed prime minister of the country on January 24, 1991, shortly before the government under Siad Barre was ousted and the Somali civil war broke out. Formally, Ghalib kept his post until 1997. He belongs to the Isaaq clan and was a member of the United Somali Congress (VSK).
