Abdiwahid Elmi Gonjeh

Abdiwahid Elmi Gonjeh ( Somali : Cabdiwaahid Elmi Goonjeex , Arabic وحيد عبدي علمي غونجاه; * in Galguduud ) is a Somali politician who was Prime Minister of Somalia from September 24 to October 31, 2010 .

Life

On January 31, 2009, Gonjeh took over the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Oil in the government of Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke . Later he was Minister of Transport in the Sharmarke cabinet.

Following the resignation of Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, Gonjeh was appointed Prime Minister of Somalia on September 24, 2010 by the President of the Transitional Government of Somalia , Sharif Sheikh Ahmed .

On September 10, 2012 Gonjeh ran for the office of president. In the election by the federal parliament, however, he only received three of the 271 votes cast and thus missed the second ballot in tenth place. In the elections on January 8, 2017, he was elected as a representative of Galmudug to the senator and member of the upper house of the federal parliament.
