The Restitution Point is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . In Prince Olav Harbor , it marks the north side of the entrance to South Bay .
Scientists from the UK Discovery Investigations surveyed in 1929 and named it Factory Point . In order to avoid confusion with the Factory Point located about 30 km northwest, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee decided in 1955 to rename it. The new namesake is the factory ship SS Restitution , which was in service for the South African Southern Whaling and Sealing Company in Prince Olav Harbor for many years .
