Rest of the population
The ethnological term remnant people describes a people who belong to an older population class than other ethnic groups in their vicinity. Often a remnant population is an ethnic minority and is considered an indigenous people . The language of a remainder of the people is referred to as a remnant language and is often characterized by the fact that it has no (closer) relationship to other, dominant languages in the area.
In beekeeping , residual colony refers to the part of the colony left after a swarm has left or the queen has been removed , in which a queen has to hatch again.
