The Return Point ( English for turning point ) is a rocky headland at the southwestern end of Coronation Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is 1.5 km west-northwest of Cheal Point and borders Fulmar Bay in the south and Lazuren Bryag Cove in the north.
The headland was discovered on December 7, 1821 by the seal hunters Nathaniel Palmer and George Powell (1794-1824). Powell named the headland so because he immediately returned aboard the sloop James Monroe after a brief landing .
