The Cheal Point is a rocky headland on the southwestern end of Coronation Iceland in Archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located 1.5 km east-southeast of Return Point and forms the southern boundary of Lazuren Bryag Cove .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations made an initial mapping in 1933. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the headland on March 31, 1955 after Joseph John Cheal (1922–1996) of the Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS), head of the FIDS station on Signy Island in 1951. The headland marks the western one Limit of triangulation measurements made by Cheal from July to September 1950 .
