Return to the Planet of the Apes was a short-lived American animated series loosely based on the novel Planet of the Apes by Pierre Boulle . Unlike the novel, the film series of the same name and the first television series, this television series shows a high-tech world and not one of the early modern times .
Together with the second film of the film series Beneath the Planet of the Apes (Beneath the Planet of the Apes) is the series the only original Planet of the Apes-production, at the Roddy McDowall was not involved.
