Austin Stoker (born October 7, 1943 in Port of Spain , Trinidad and Tobago ) is an American actor .

Life

Stoker took acting classes in New York City and took citizenship after a few years in the United States. His first role in a TV movie he received in 1970 in danger in depth on the side of Ricardo Montalbán , Jose Ferrer and Leslie Nielsen . He made his feature film debut in 1973 in a major supporting role as MacDonald in The Battle for the Planet of the Apes . He then got leading roles in some blaxploitation films The Zebra Killer alongside Juanita Moore and Sheba, Baby at Pam Grier's side . He played his most famous role in 1976 in John Carpenter's action - thriller Assault - stop at night in the lead role of Lieutenant Ethan Bishop . However, this was not followed by any further major feature film roles, in later years he only played occasionally in smaller film productions. Worth mentioning is his appearance in the science fiction film Time Walker , in which his Assault - attack at night co-star Darwin Joston also participated. Instead, he was seen more frequently as a guest star in various television series, including successful formats such as Kojak - Einsatz in Manhattan , Airwolf , Cagney & Lacey and Falcon Crest , as well as in the miniseries Roots . In total, he has so far appeared in almost 50 film and television productions.
