Songwriters Dino Fekaris and Freddie Perren also wrote the song (We'll Be) United for the Intruders , which in turn was also covered by Peaches & Herb. The song also served as the basis for the piece Reunited.

Released on March 16, 1979, the Contemporary R&B number became a number one hit in the United States and Canada .

In 1989 David Hasselhoff sang the song live on the Berlin Wall as a symbol for reunification.
