Revolting Cocks (often abbreviated as Revco ) is an American post-industrial / industrial rock band that was founded as a side project by Al Jourgensen ( Ministry ) and Luc Van Acker.

history

The group was founded in 1985 by Jourgensen and the Belgians Luc Van Acker, Patrick Codenys and Richard 23 ( Front 242 ). The first release was No Devotion on Wax Trax! Records .

After Richard 23 and Patrick Codenys left the band after differences, Chris Connelly (Fini Tribe, later Damage Manual), Paul Barker ( Ministry ), Duane Buford, and Bill Rieflin (who now plays for REM ), joined about 20 other irregular contributors or guest artists to the band.

The single was quickly followed by the album Big Sexy Land in 1986, followed by a live album You Goddamned Son of a Bitch in 1987 and Beers, Steers, and Queers in 1989. After a hiatus, Linger Ficken 'Good was released in 1993. This was the Revolting Cocks' final album for over ten years.

The first album was a mix of electro-industrial and dance , with dominant synthetic beats . The live album after the personnel change was characterized by a relocation to Ministry-like industrial rock . This trend continued with Beers, Steers & Queers . Linger Ficken 'Good was released on Sire Records and is a moderate album compared to previous albums. Included was a cover of Rod Stewart's Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? , which was also released as a single.

An album called Purple Head was planned for 2004 but was postponed until 2006 and renamed Cocked & Loaded .

The Revolting Cocks are also known for their sometimes very offensive lyrics and live shows.

The origin of the name is unknown. It is claimed that it derives from the abuse of a bartender who expelled the original band members for drinking excessively and referred to them as "revolting cocks".

No Devotion's album cover shows an old photograph of three unidentified young men, instead of the actual band members. On all publications up to Cocked and Loaded these "Three Guys" could be seen in a row, sometimes in bizarre combinations.
