Rexnord is a US company based in Milwaukee , which is owned by the investment company Apollo Management . Rexnord manufactures roller bearings and various chains (e.g. roller chains ). In addition, derived products such as bucket elevators and chain conveyors are manufactured. The subsidiaries produce fittings .

The German agency (Rexnordkette GmbH, formerly Siemag ) is based in Betzdorf , Rhineland-Palatinate.

history

Rexnord was founded in 1892 as a Chain Belt Company . In 1964 the name was Rex Chainbelt, Inc. changed. Under its President William C. Messinger, who has been in office since 1967, the company grew into a diversified large corporation, including through takeovers. In 1970 the Nordberg Manufacturing Company was taken over, which led to the name change to Rexnord three years later .

In 1985, Electronic Modules Corporation (EMC), an automation specialist, was bought for $ 100 million.

In 1987 Rexnord was taken over by Banner Industries , which sold the company to BTR plc in 1994 .
