The Reykjanes peninsula is located in Breiðafjörður in western Iceland . It is located in the easternmost corner of the great fjord.
On this peninsula is the place Reykhólar , after which the municipality ( Reykhólahreppur ) is named. Reykjanesfjall is north of the village . In addition to a coastal strip, the interior rises up to 480 m with steep slopes. The isthmus between Berufjörður in the south and Þorskafjörður is almost 3 km wide.
