The Rheinische Landesmuseum clinic is in the district of Rheydt in Mönchengladbach . It is housed in the buildings of the former Rheydter hospital at Heinrich-Pesch-Straße 41.

location

The location of the property in a park-like garden with old trees is characterized by the fact that the construction of factories and commercial facilities was prohibited or restricted in the area. The direct connection to the city center was secured via Hohlstrasse. Only after the turn of the century were some new buildings built in the vicinity of the hospital.

history

The building was built in 1884/85.

It was entered under no. H 050.2 on August 30, 1988 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

architecture

The building complex was built in several construction phases. The oldest inventory includes a three-storey building with nine axes, which was built in 1884/85 and was built in brick architecture typical of the hospital building at the time . It consists of a west-east-oriented long building with a transverse structure arranged perpendicular to it in the middle three axes. Axial emphasis of the southern front by a risalit under the triangular gable .

Due to the unusually high quality and rare hospital architecture in a predestined location for the location, the property is definitely worth preserving for reasons of architecture, location and social history.
