Company structure

The company was as a production site of the Finnish family company Myllykoski as Rhein Papier GmbH founded. In December 2010, Myllykoski and its subsidiary Rhein Papier were taken over by the Finnish paper, wood and organic company UPM-Kymmene . The European Union agreed to this in July 2011 without any conditions.

The special thing about UPM Hürth is that the company has linked its production process with other companies. The logistics are taken over by the shipping company PLI. The German mechanical engineering group Voith is responsible for maintenance. The energy necessary for paper production, u. a. Electricity for the motors and process steam for the paper drying process is generated in the neighboring Goldenberg power plant. The water comes from a deep well in Kierdorf , which also supplies the facilities at the Goldenberg power plant . The dried paper and deinking sludge is thermally recycled. Metallic waste, especially staples from magazines, has been separated and recycled since September 2011. The company strives to minimize its environmental impact. In this way, the specific energy and water consumption could be reduced considerably over the years. Customers and suppliers rely on the region as much as possible.

The subsidiary still operates as Rheinpapier.
