Rheinsteg Nohl

The Rheinsteg Nohl is a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. The structure spans the Rhine below the Rhine Falls and connects the municipality of Laufen-Uhwiesen in the Swiss canton of Zurich with its district of Nohl on the northern right bank of the Rhine.

In 1955/56 the footbridge with a 3.0 meter wide lane was built as part of the construction of the Rheinau power plant to replace a ferry . It is a three-span 109.1 meter long prestressed concrete structure with spans of 33.5 meters at the edge sections and 42.1 meters at the central opening. The bridge superstructure has a single-web T-beam cross- section with a height of 78 centimeters in the middle of the bridge. The height grows cove-shaped to 128 centimeters above the two disc-shaped river pillars.
