Rhiana Gunn-Wright (2018)

Rhiana Gunn-Wright (* 1988 ) is an American political advisor. She gained notoriety through the Green New Deal, which she largely designed .

Live and act

Gunn-Wright was raised by her mother, grandmother, extended family and a caring environment. She majored in African American studies at Yale until 2011 and was Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford from 2013 , where she studied social policy. She was an intern in the White House for former First Lady Michelle Obama . In the mid-2010s, she worked on the Detroit Health Department. During this time she became aware of how social justice was affected by environmental problems and recognized the need for political action on issues of global warming .

Gunn-Wright gained notoriety for drafting the Green New Deal , for which she is responsible at the New Consensus think tank . This deal was introduced in the US Congress by the Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ed Markey . He aims u. a to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions while creating high-wage jobs.

The US American Time magazine listed her in the article “Meet 15 Women Leading the Fight Against Climate Change” in 2019 as one of 15 women who lead the fight against climate change.
