Rhipsalis ormindoi is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis ormindoi grows epiphytically with drooping or overhanging shoots with limited growth. The light green, cylindrical shoots are slender, twisting and branch out fork-shaped. The main shoots are elongated, the club-shaped side shoots are usually arranged in whorls of three or four . They are 3 to 5 centimeters long and 1 to 2 millimeters in diameter. The compound areoles are glabrous.

The magenta colored flowers appear at the tips of the shoots. The spherical fruits are orange.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rhipsalis ormindoi is distributed in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro at altitudes of 1500 to 1600 meters.

It was first described in 1997 by Nigel Paul Taylor and Daniela Cristina Zappi . A synonym is Erythrorhipsalis ormindoi (NPTaylor & Zappi) Doweld .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Near Threatened (NT)", d. H. listed as low risk.
